Indian Mastiff Dog Breed: Price in India, Bite Force Psi & More

    indian mastiff

This giant breed of dogs also known as beast of the East, is one of the world's four toughest breeds. You can fall in love at first sight if you are a big dog enthusiast like me :)

Indian mastiff isn't for everyone, though. I've gathered all the details you need to help you decide if the Bully Kutta is for you to ensure this breed goes into the right homes.

    Table of content

What does Bully Kutta (Indian Mastiff) mean ?

Theories exist about how it got its name. Nevertheless, it is highly probable that the dog has been called ' Bohli ' because it means "heavily wrinkled." Excess skin is a distinctive characteristic of the breed particularly under the chin and around the neck. ' Kutta ' means ' the puppy '

    Indian Mastiff History

    bully kutta

Bully kutta is a Molosser type dog which is found largely in India and Pakistan.Bully kutta is also known as the
Indian Mastiff who are aloof and do not like to tolerate strangers, OF course unless they are well socialized as we
Promised to do with the UK bully kutta.

The Bully kutta is also sometimes referred to as the sin Mastiff with a generic rubric name of South Asian Mastiff. They were found in India even and I stress even before the British
colonial rule and were used primarily for sporting purposes the are typically found today in areas in India and some and some
    rural parts of Pakistan.

While they are starting to get worldwide attention it is because of their size and strength and loyalty that these dogs find themselves in the hands of unscrupulous characters who choose to use them for dog fighting.

In history at around 2,500 years ago there were three different types of mastiff breeds found in and around the areas of Persia and India.

These breeds primarily were the Asian Mastiff the Indian Mastiff and the alarmed, One of the best-known dogs at
that time was the Assyrian dog which were used as a hunting and guarding dog.

When the assyrian empire crumbled the meds and the persians the first true rulers of ancient Iran and all the Huntsman's kings of the Orient gave huge payments for these magnificent dogs whose roles seems to have been as it important as that of the Greyhound in the history of the canine race.

At shish fortress in southwestern Iran there is a form of these dogs which are predominantly black in color that gallops for hunting with some riders.

The Persian army used the Indian dogs masters just for guarding and not for suicide jobs. Herod ITA's a famous Greek author born circa phoric 4 BC writes in his book that heavy powerful dogs in quotes Indian mastiff were introduced into Greece by the legendary Xerxes the first when he marched towards his country.

Alexander the Great on his return from India that's Alexander the Great on his return from India this phrase here has a massive massive implication into the arguments now that it was the British colonial settlers that actually were responsible for creating this breed, This has no true fabric.

Alexander the Great on his return from India brought back a very similar type of dog. These are magnificent Indian Mastiffs originated in and around the desert area of Kutch, The Rajasthan area and  area of Punjab.

A part of Rajasthan's Kutch area was under Sindh district and hence the other name of this breed is Sindh mastiff. A part of the Sindh area currently falls under Pakistan and so is the Balapur district.

This breed is not to be confused with a high craniun breed which was also prevalent in the Indian zone. These high craniums came down to more deeper inside India inside the kamon district to become the Kamon mastiff also known as the cipro cocker.

Alongside the Kamon mastiff the Indian Mastiffs were used for hunting large games but a sudden change in the hunting practice saw the Indian royal families to use cheetahs for hunting instead.

These to a large extent took out the Sindh Mastiff out of their jobs and turn them into guard dogs and sadly dogs used for fighting.

With time most people forgot the breeds and the Kamon Mastiff became rare and so did the Indian Mastiff and sindh mastiff. The people who fought the Indian Mastiff dropped its height a couple of inches for performance sake and here lies the truth.

It's at the point where the height of this breed of the sin Mastiff that we are today referring to as the bully kutta it was at the point that the height was being dropped by the introduction of such breed as the English bull terrier by colonial settlers that's when the bloodline became corrupt.

So the argument now of how this breed was created, it's pretty clear there was a systematic movement it was when the dog fighting aspect of this breed became a sporting event that they introduced dogs such as a bull terrier, I don't think just for its height but for its absolute pain tolerance into this breed that's when we had the mixing of the Indian Mastiff & Sindh mastiff   with the European bloodlines of such breeds as a bull terrier and possibly other English Mastiffs.

I still personally believe that there are pure lines of sindh Mastiffs you know the the coining of bully kutta in Pakistan is a phrase used for all dogs really that are used in tournaments .

I personally don't condone a dog fighting for whatever reason. The the point that I am trying to also sort of put across in this is that the purity of shall I now not use a term bully kutta, I use the term sindh Mastiff,You can still and I believe I have some very pure sindh Mastiffs.

I think that the bully kutta we need to also focus on the gul dong which i think really is the mix of the sindh Mastiff the Indian Pakistani Mastiff with breeds such as the bull terrier
English Mastiff s-- boxers apparently, I think that that really is what gave rise to the Gull dong who are in Pakistan I believe a legendary fighter.

    Pakistani Mastiff Appearance

Bully Kutta has a short smooth coat that usually predominantly white in colour however you can also get such colors as fawn, black, red with also brindle markings.

The brisket is deep and the limbs are well muscled. The back is long with the tail tapering to a very fine point,The tail
of this breed is very ambidextrous, very Fluid and it's a unique feature to the breed.

The ears are set high on a brick shape skull it a long and graceful stripe very majestic in its movement very very agile. The males vary from 29 and yes up to 34 to 35 inches and females from about 26 to 30 /31 inches tall.

They usually weigh 150 to 170 pounds and some of the males can reach up to 200 pounds plus. they are a muscular athletic
    and highly trainable dog.

    Temperament

    pakistani mastiff

The Bully Kutta needs the right trainer in order to thrive as a highly intelligent and dominant breed. They are receptive quick learners with proper training.

Because of their height they must have a large living room. The Bully Kutta also needs regular exercise because they are strong. But, if they become tired, they can be lazy and sleep all day.

It is important to remember a bored dog is a destructive dog. Think how harmful a 150 pound plus dog can be. If you are considering getting a Bully Kutta, be prepared to give at least 60 minutes of walking or running a day and 12 miles a week.

They have a good personality at home, they are loyal, dedicated and they protect their family. They are loving and playful to other dogs, puppies and children when raised or socialized early.

Bully Kutta is territorial & fearless and always on the alert against unwelcome guests, guarding their premises. Remember these dogs were bred for fighting as mentioned earlier, so they can be very aggressive.

They can bite first, and later ask questions. And care should be taken while visiting new humans and animals.

Many nations, like the U.K., have laws banning possession of certain bully breeds because of the danger involved. If you live in one of those nations, the Bully Kutta is likely to be found on their list.

    Indian mastiff bite force psi

They have a very strong bite force of 345 to 400 psi, however it may vary on the size and strength of the individuals.

    Health Issues

Hip dysplasia and arthritis are popular among dogs of large and giant breeds and other issues includes:

    1) Skin itching due to allergies
    2) Mange
    3) Bacterial infections
    4) Vitiligo which is loss of pigmentation of skin
    5) No cancerous growths, such as sebaceous cysts
    6) Blindness
    7) Progressive Retinal Atrophy which is an inherited disease
    8) Murmurs
    9) Problem of valves
    10) Heart enlargements

How to care for bully kutta?

Give your dog daily exercise. I can't mention enough of that – it is very very important.

They require only rare to occasional coat brushing with a firm bristle brush, as a moderate shedder. No hair clipping is needed.

You MUST be a firm owner or boss, and dominant. You Should obtain the title of Pack Leader. This is a headstrong dog who, if you don't show him who's boss, will take charge. Proper, regular training makes a dog compliant.

Equally important for the development of a well-rounded dog is love and affection from its owner. Early socialization with other adults, kids, and pets, will help your Bully Kutta become a trusted family member.

High quality dog food and snacks should be given regularly to ensure a long, healthy life. This can be expensive as the dog is so large and needs about six cups of food per day!

How to find  a Bully Kutta puppy and how much will they cost?

Puppies for sale by breeders are easily found in populated cities such as Chennai and Bangaluru (Bengaluru), Delhi and states such as Kerala in India. Yet in other parts of the world, they are rare. They have only recently been introduced into China, Russia, the United States and Central Asia.

    Price:

Their price can range anywhere from 5000 to 50,000 INR depending on the location, type, age, color, gender.

    Their price city wise:

    Feeding:

    1) Puppies need 4 meals daily between 8 to 12 weeks.
    2) Pups aged between 3 and 6 months should be fed 3 meals per day.
    3) 2 bows should be fed to pups who age between 6 months to 1 year of age

    Training:

Working on training and socializing your puppy is extremely important as soon as they arrive home. That is the key to future good behaviour. Make sure to ask the breeder wether he has already started working with the pup!

Again it is important to mention that this dog needs a superior trainer. They're for people who are first time dog owners. This breed won't listen to timid men, or follow them. They are quick learners in the right hands though, and they will build a strong bond with their pack leader.

    Conclusion:

    indian mastiff

With dog fighting excluded, the Bully Kutta will need to find another purpose in life. Although I strongly agree that this dog isn't for everyone, it would be a shame to see it get extinct as it's no longer wanted or needed.

I think all of the dogs deserve the chance to prove themselves. Stepping away from the fighting ring will enable the Bully Kutta to demonstrate their loving nature.

How to know if a dog is purebred ?

A purebred puppy doesn't have genuine visual indications. Although the breed standard can be compared,a few dogs will have indistinguishable signs from pooches whose ancestors have been a similar breed for ages.

A purebred dog will not be' better' than any other breed, or will give clear flags of its breed status.

The only way to know whether a dog is purebred is to look at Their family records.

    1) Check their pedigree papers

The KC or AKC will only entertain family Purebred dogs. So on the off chance that when you brought your pup, your breeder gave you a family tree, they're more likely to be purebred at that point.

The family tree will provide you dogs ancestors subtleties of five years, specifically showing their heritage and any successes they may have picked up in their lives.

When breeders are dishonest the system can break. It's not a common occurrence but it can happen. Where a Breeder has a litter from one stud dog but convinces Kennel Club that it has been sired by another dog.

When you believe your dog seems to be tremendously different then you have to know that at this stage there is another way to determine the purity and that is by demanding a DNA test.

    2) DNA testing of your dog

Now you could send the dogs off for DNA testing.

There are a few web based places offering this administration, or you can arrange an Amazon home unit.

This kit brings data back to awesome grandparents about the styles of your dogs ancestors. However, if you have a mixed breed dog with an unpredictable final size it offers an adult weight estimate.

What are the sings of a good dog breeder?

    1) The Breeder will welcome you to their place of residence and not elsewhere.

    2) The pups are going to live in the house and be handled regularly, as pets who are naturally exposed to family life have a superior chance to grow loose and cordial.

    3) The guardians will be nearby, and you will be able to meet them, it may not be possible to meet the dad, but you should certainly meet the mother.
    4) The place where the pups are kept will be spotless and clean, and that new water, beds and toys are given for them. Is there a latrine place in the living quarters of the little dog for house-training?

    5) Litters from mother will be minimal, and the quantity of litters accessible for adoption will be limited.

    6) The health clearances of the guardians will be accessible to you and the parent and grandparent should have been tested for hereditary problems.

    7) Puppies are being genetically tested, or a health guarantee should be issued.

    8) The Breeder will refer his past clients to talk   with

    9) The breeder will show information about the breed and tell the truth about its preferences and disadvantages, irrespective of whether this implies an inclination to build up certain medical issues or a personality

    10) The pup will be taken back by the breeder in case he comes to know that you cant take care of them

    11) The breeders will not give away the pup until its about 2 months old and has completed the initial rounds of immunizations

    12) A good breeders will have only one breeding dog pair

    13) a good breeder will always be available even after you take the pup home and will guide you for proper care and training

A good breeder will always ask you questions like:

    A) Your lifestyle and where do you live?
    B) Who lives with you & can i visit your place?
    C) Your purpose behind getting a pup
    D) How involved are you with a particular dog         or a breed
    E) When you GET the puppy, you may need to sign a spay / fix contract or recognize the reproductive rights to keep from contributing to the overpopulation of animals

Top 10 World's Strongest & Deadliest Dog Breeds - Mylilpaw

It's no secret that dogs can be terrifying. They are big fast loud aggressive and most importantly loving which are also traits that can apply to humans.Remember it's the owner that makes the dog not the dog that makes the owner.

Dogs are known to be mans best friend. Canines are loyal and lovable and also provide their human counterparts with warmth, protection and other services. However there some breeds which can be dangerous.

Every dog can be a threat, depending on the animal's upbringing, temperament and circumstances. Even small dog breeds are known to be aggressive and bite people .Chihuahuas actually sink their teeth into vets more frequently than any other type of pooch.

But some breeds can cause more harm simply because of their size or their jaw strength. These are some of the world's deadliest dog breeds, in no particular order, based on the damage they can do.

List of world's deadliest dog breeds:-

    1) Doberman

    world's deadliest dog breeds

The Doberman is the Frankenstein's monster of breeds and it

even bears its creators name the dog was first established in 1890 by Carl fried rich Lewis Doberman a tax collector living in the town of a poldek Germany.

During his fraud expeditions to dangerous neighborhoods and confrontations with dangerous people he wanted to make a dog which would protect him. This was achieved through the mixing of several breeds including Rottweiler,  Beauceron and German shepherd.

The hybridization was successful in the 28 inch tall 80 pound Doberman was born into the world of protection services. The breed thrived in its role and today Dobermans are used for all kinds of aggressive specific jobs.

They can be found guarding businesses, Hunting down criminals and rescuing wounded soldiers on the battlefield.Of -course they can also make great house pets however because of their selectively bred tenacity Dobermans have found themselves near the top of the list of world's deadliest dog breeds.

    2) Wolf Dog

    world's strongest dog breeds

We don't need much of an explanation for this breed. Since the Ice Age, wolf's and domestic dogs have been bred in society and in nature for hundreds of years.

Since domestic dogs split from Wolf's only forty thousand years ago and share 99.9% of the same DNA, crossbreeding is easy.It has been accomplished with Wolf's such as grey wolf, timber wolf and dogs like German Shepherds Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Maltese.

Wolf dogs become the size wolf's rather than dogs standing nearly three feet tall and weighing over 100 pounds. In terms of temperament wolf dogs have a bad reputation which has resulted in breed specific bands around the world, however public opinion is changing in regards to wolf dogs as people believe that they have been unfairly vilified and are no more temperamental than other independent breeds.

Still owing to wolf dogs size and unpredictability they rank high in dog bite statistics if this weren't scary enough keep in mind they are part wolf.

    3) Great Dane

    World's deadliest dog breeds

Despite the fact that Great Danes are gentle giants, they belong to this list based on their sheer size.convoluted breeding history means that Great Danes didn't become great through sheer tyranny of will.

It was a centuries-long process that started in Germany in the 1600s.Although dogs resembling the Great Dane have been found on Egyptian monuments and in ancient Chinese literature.

The modern Great Dane is believed to be derived from English Mastiff and Irish Wolfhounds.Danes were originally bred for boar hunting and quickly became prized for their size intelligence and tenacity.

The Danes even found their way into the hands of European royalty eventually the need for boar hunting ran out and the Great Dane made a unique transition from ruthless hunting machine to friendly and docile companion dog.

It still retained its legendary size of course the Great Dane is the tallest breed of dog with one individual reaching 44 inches at the shoulder.

    4)  Canary Mastiff

    world's strongest dog breeds

The canary Mastiff was bred in the canary islands in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is thought to be the descendant of early Mastiffs brought by conquistadors. These Mastiffs were then bred with bull dogs and sheepdogs to create the unmistakable
size and coat that has defined the breed, Also defining the breed is its ferocity.

The canary mastiff was pushed into dog fighting, following duties as hunters herders and guardians. At 25 inches high and well over 100 pounds the breed was an obvious choice for the bloodsport but years in the ring drastically reduced
its population and soon the canary Mastiff was in crisis mode.

Thankfully the breed entered a resurgence period in the 1970s and the Barry mastic was rehabilitated as a brave and loyal pet with extraordinary markings. This doesn't mean we won't still be scared if we see one there's no dog that looks more like a mythical beast so excuse our apprehension.

    5) Pitbull

    world's deadliest dog breeds

It's no secret that pitbulls have had a short but brutal history. They were first bred in England in the early 1800s by mixing Bulldogs with Terriers. This created in effect super dogs.

Early pit bulls were used exclusively for blood sports like bull and bear baiting which pit groups of dogs against the aforementioned animals.when blood sports were banned in England in 1835 pitbulls were selectively bred for dog fighting and were forced to fight each other which has continued in  21st century.

Pit bulls are the most common combat dogs and have been stigmatized in society as a consequence of this not being an arbitrary law.

Pitbulls are among the most aggressive dog breeds and are ranked annually amongst the most bite centric canines. They are also responsible for causing more human fatalities than any other breed.

It's not a surprise then that pit bulls have been the subject of city and even country wide bans.Of course pitbulls are not the problem they are the scapegoats of a larger problem that begins and ends with their owners.

    6) Bullmastiff

    world's deadliest dog breeds

There are few such strong breeds as the bull mastiff that
has become one of the most feared.

The colossal bull mastiff dates from the mid 1800 and was created by gamekeepers to help guard estates. The dogs were a result of breeding English Mastiff with now extinct Old English Bulldogs.

The best qualities of both dogs converged in the bull mastiff which is large strong and fast thus individuals were shipped all over the world to aid in the protection of limb this included South Africa where bull Mastiffs were used to guard diamond mines.

Though not as large as his predecessor the English Mastiff the bull mastiff averages over 100 pounds and sometimes approaches 200.Temperamentally bull Mastiffs are quite calm but if challenged they will put up a fight that no one wants.

They've been responsible for 111 attacks in the US and Canada from 1982 to 2014 bullmastiffs are deciding Lee unaggressive unless provoked and their scariness is mostly an illusion.

    7) Dogo Argentino

    world's strongest dog breeds

This ghostly dog has a reputation similar to that of a pitbull
only the fear is reserved for South America rather than North America.

Dogo Argentino was first bred in 1928 in Argentina it was developed by Antonio Martinez who wanted big-game hunting dogs for wild boar and other South American pests.

He accomplished this by crossbreeding the now-extinct Cordoba fighting dog which was itself a crossbreed of the boxer Mastiff and others with all kinds of breeds like the Great Dane Great Pyrenees bull terrier and even a pointer. The result was 90 pounds of pure muscle and strength.

Martinez got his wish and maybe more than he bargained for when the breed excelled at hunting and thanks to its reliability and perseverance it started to be used in search-and-rescue operations,The police service and the military.

Unfortunately it's also been used in dog fighting. Despite its appearance ferocious past and the fact that Dogo Argentino has been banned or restricted in countries like Denmark and Australia it can make a social loyal and loving pet.

    8) Rottweiler

    world's deadliest dog breeds

The Rottweiler has an origin story that should make most other breeds jealous as one of the oldest dog breeds in the world the Rottweiler is a mixture of ancient Roman Mastiffs with unknown local dogs from the German city of wroclaw.

The newly formed Rottweiler was used to drive carts and herd
Livestock thus earning the dog's nickname butcher. Bred for their strength Rottweilers exceeded the sizes that made it
