Appearance is the major difference between these breeds. The American Bullies, with Broader heads and shorter legs, are more compact and very Muscular as compared to the pitbulls.
The American Bully is affectionate, gentle, friendly, and loyal despite the intimidating appearance, making it an ideal family dog. It also has a high tolerance for pain.
American bully comes in four varieties:
1) Standard
2) Pocket
3) XL
4) Classic
Standard:
The standard American Bully breed is a medium-sized dog with a compact muscle body, a thick bone structure, and a blocky head. Male dogs must be between 17 and 20 inches (43 to 51 cm), while females must be between 16 and 19 inches (41 to 48 cm).
Pocket:
The "pocket" type is a smaller variant with full-grown males below 17 inches (43 cm), but not less than 14 inches (36 cm), at tge shoulders and females below 16 inches (40 cm), but not less than 13 inches (33 cm), at the shoulders.
XL Bully:
An XL type is determined by its adult height, with males between 20 inches (51 cm) and 23 inches (57 cm) at the shoulders and females standing 19 inches (48 cm) to 22 inches (54 cm) at the shoulders.
Classic:
The classic is a lighter frame dog than normal, but it stays within the same range of height. Such dogs do not show the exaggerated traits that are often seen in the other varieties and may demonstrate a simpler lineage of American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier.
2) Pitbull Terrier
American Pit Bull is a breed which was born as a competitive dog in the 1800's. During those times when dog fighting was legal it was used for dog fighting.
This describes its aggressive nature, but it is balanced by a compassionate nature that prevents it from biting the people who handle it.
American Pit Bull It has a broad and deep chest.His forehead does not go past his shoulder level.
The ribs stretch well back into a shape that is more attractive from the spine, giving it a deep, elbow-like frame. Their body is slightly inclined to the back, very muscular and broad. American Bully Possess a deep chest which is not exaggerated with well-sprung ribs.
The length of the forechest does not reach the shoulder point. Its back is strong, wide & broad. It is a slanting croup slightly down to the base of the tail and short yet wide loins.
